Planned Giving Overview

Thank you for your interest in making a planned gift to Open to Debate. A planned gift is a commitment to the Open to Debate Foundation that becomes effective at death or after a specified number of years. When you include Open to Debate in your will or other estate plans, you support our long-term ability to bring nuance and balance to public discourse. Options for planned gifts include:

Bequests

Including Open to Debate in your will or estate plan is a generous and meaningful way to support Open to Debate. A bequest avoids reducing current income and operates like a postdated check payable only after death. Charitable bequests can include cash, securities, real estate, or other property. By making a bequest, you will be eligible for Open to Debate’s Legacy Society (more details below).

Please find below an example of language that could be used to prepare wills containing a specific bequest to Open to Debate:

“I give, devise, and bequeath to the Open to Debate Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with legal address at 80 5th Avenue, Suite 1101, New York, NY 10011, $________, to be used for general operating purposes.”

Please contact advancement@opentodebate.org for more information and consult with your estate planning professional for specific guidance.
