The Trump Doctrine: A Global Reckoning?

On May 6, the veteran nonpartisan media organization Open to Debate is hosting its first-ever Debate Summit. Over the course of a single afternoon and evening, the organization will hold three full debates, all under the umbrella of “The Trump Doctrine: A Global Reckoning?” The event will take place from 4-8pm at the Council on Foreign Relations in NYC (58 E 68th St). Debaters will include Jeffrey Sachs, Bill Browder, Liana Fix, Jeremy Ben-Ami, Kelly Grieco, Joshua Shifrinson, and Charles Kupchan. Full debate-by-debate lineups will be announced soon.

The summit schedule, and the three questions to be debated (language subject to change):

  • 3:45-4:00 Beverage Reception
  • 4:00-5:00 Debate I: Trump’s Russia Policies: Return to Normalcy or Defeat for America?
  • 5:00-5:15 Break
  • 5:15-6:15 Debate II: Is Trump’s America a Reliable Ally?
  • 6:15-6:30 Break
  • 6:30-7:30 Debate III: Is Trump Good for Israel?
  • 7:30-8:00 Cocktail reception

“America’s role on the global stage is rapidly evolving,” says Chief Content Officer Lia Matthow. “Because so much is happening so quickly, we thought it would be constructive, and compelling to a live audience, to bring prominent and diverse voices on both sides of several foreign policy questions together at one time, as part of our ongoing partnership with the Council on Foreign Relations.”

Registration is required to attend. Media can email raypadgett@shorefire.com to register.
