J. Stapleton Roy
Roy was promoted in 1996 to the rank of career ambassador, the highest rank in the U.S. Foreign Service. Fluent in Chinese and a specialist in Asian affairs, Ambassador Roy rose to become a three-time ambassador, serving in Singapore, the People’s Republic of China, and Indonesia. Roy served as assistant secretary of state for the Bureau of Intelligence and Research from 1999 to 2000. He is currently a managing director of Kissinger Associates, Inc.
