Michael Eric Dyson
Michael Eric Dyson, a globally renowned scholar of race, religion, and contemporary culture, will join Vanderbilt as Centennial Chair and University Distinguished Professor of African American and Diaspora Studies in the College of Arts and Science and University Distinguished Professor of Ethics and Society in the Divinity School on Jan. 1, 2021. Currently a professor of sociology at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., Dyson is also a prominent commentator across several national media outlets and a contributing opinion writer at The New York Times. In addition, he serves as a contributing editor at The New Republic and The Undefeated, a website from ESPN.
