Is Islam a religion of peace? That’s the complex question at the center of the latest edition of the Open to Debate formerly known as Intelligence Squared U.S. Speaking for the motion will be Muslim-American leader Zeba Khan, who launched the organization Muslim-Americans for Obama in 2008, and Maajid Nawaz, a former leading member of the Islamic Liberation Party, Hizb ut-Tahrir, and now director of Quilliam, a counter-extremism think tank. The opposition will be made up of active critic of Islamic fundamentalism and women’s rights advocate Ayaan Hirsi Ali, and founder of the Centre for Social Cohesion, Douglas Murray.
