Peter Victor

Peter has worked on the economy and environment for nearly 50 years in Canada and abroad as an academic, consultant, and public servant. He is a professor emeritus and senior scholar at York University, where he also served as the Dean of the Faculty of Environmental Studies. Victor is the author of “Escape from Overshoot: Economics for a Planet in Peril,” “Herman Daly’s Economics for a Full World: His Life and Ideas,” and “Managing without Growth: Slower by Design, not Disaster,” as well as multiple research articles. He currently serves on the honorary board of the David Suzuki Foundation and the editorial advisory board of several academic journals. He has received significant recognition, including the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal, the Molson Prize in the Social Sciences by the Canada Council for the Arts, the Boulding Memorial Prize from the International Society for Ecological Economics, and was elected to the Royal Society of Canada.
