Janna Gewirtz O'Brien
Dr. Janna R. Gewirtz O’Brien, M.D., M.P.H., F.A.A.P., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Minnesota. After completing a fellowship in Adolescent Medicine at the University of Minnesota and a pediatrics residency at the Mayo Clinic, she joined the Pediatrics department at Hennepin Healthcare and helped launch the Adolescent and Young Adult Health Program in Pediatrics. She provides subspecialty adolescent medicine care to youth ages 12 to 24 within the Pediatrics Clinic at the Clinic & Specialty Center and provides consultations for adolescent and young adult patients. Dr. Gewirtz O’Brien’s clinical interests include adolescent sexual and reproductive health, adolescent pregnancy and parenthood, adolescent mental health and substance use, and eating disorders among diverse populations, with a focus on promoting equity and addressing social drivers of health in primary care and community-based clinical settings. Dr. Gewirtz O’Brien also serves on the Executive Board of the Minnesota Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics and is an active member of Minnesota Doctors for Health Equity, the Minnesota School-based Health Alliance, and the Society for Adolescent Health and Medicine.
