Oren Cass
Oren Cass is the executive director of American Compass, which seeks to restore an economic orthodoxy that emphasizes the importance of family, community, and industry to the nation’s liberty and prosperity, and the author of “The Once and Future Worker: A Vision for the Renewal of Work in America.” He is a contributing opinion writer for the Financial Times and his work also appears regularly in publications including The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal. Cass previously worked as a management consultant in Bain & Company’s Boston and Delhi offices for a decade and was a former Domestic Policy Director for Mitt Romney’s 2012 presidential campaign. He was a senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute from 2015 to 2019 where his work on strengthening the labor market addressed issues ranging from the social safety net and trade and immigration to education and organized labor. He has testified before seven congressional committees and regularly speaks on dozens of college campuses. He received a J.D. from Harvard Law School, where he was vice president and treasurer of the Harvard Law Review, and a B.A. in political economy from Williams College.
